In a spiritual context, Ascension refers to rising to a higher state of consciousness, or transcending the physical and material limitations of life. It often implies personal growth and evolution. The term can be used both symbolically and literally. This Group exhibition reflects an artistic assessment of societal speculations about spirituality and its references within contemporary art.

Historically, art has been used for many outcomes, one of which is bridging the physical and the metaphysical. In the last millennium, artistic world centres trusted artists to depict and deliver societal portrayals of beliefs, morals, and standards.

This exhibition showcases how artists reference past methods of these portrayals in a contemporary context within a materialistic society.

Can Art be used nowadays as a tool in similar ways that it was used before, and if not, does it become only a reference to the past? The artists exhibiting have been chosen profoundly for their research and practice development. This selective showcase of visual research upon a variety of multi-cultural and historical contexts and the continuity among these practices, which visualises themes and topics that have inspired the art world for millennials.
