VOLTMETER (2025)

Sculpture

80cmX30cm

Plaster, metal parts, wires

Voltmeter (2025) is a sculpture made of found components and hand-made plaster details. The metal box which I suspect to be a volt-meter was found on a scrap yard alongside the other part which is attached to support it. The sculpture as a whole responds to the idea of “malfunction” a topic I have been exploring within my works. With the help of the a power supply the voltmeter is connected to 12V resulting in the movement of the meter which animates the body of the sculpture. Working with the aesthetics of repetition, heaviness, and mechanisation to reflect on the alienation inherent in labour I make works that resemble machines from factories, malfunctional and estranged from their primary meaning, while the hand made elements resemble the biological and post-human idea of machine and human relation.
